The Soul Shack is owned and managed by Sylvia Read, an Occupational Therapist with over 20 years of experience. As part of the intake to receive support from The Soul Shack, an initial meeting (in person or via Zoom) is arranged with the participant and their carer(s). This is to gain information about their functional ability, the types of supports required, risks and strategies to minimise these, current NDIS goals, and to address any specific concerns. Following the meeting, a summary is written, and education is provided to the support workers and allied health assistants to ensure they provide high quality individualised support to the participant. This is charged at 2–3 hours Occupational Therapy NDIS price guide rate During group respite/capacity building stays, Sylvia provides direct support to participants, joins in on most activities, and modifies tasks to suit the group. She loves to be hands-on and actively involved. Sylvia is on-call 24/7 during the group program to support staff and participants during their stay. | The Occupational Therapist provides The Soul Shack staff with regular group and individual supervision and professional development to assist them to provide high quality support, manage their own wellbeing and follow policies and procedures to ensure safety of participants. Individual Occupational Therapy services are available to participants after they have attended a five-day stay at The Soul Shack. This allows the Occupational Therapist to get to know the participant on a deeper level and ensure therapy is tailored to their needs. The Occupational Therapist can undertake general assessments, functional capacity assessment reports, letters of recommendation to NDIS, intervention, and development of an individual program that is delivered by an Allied Health Assistant. Please note: We do not provide OT support, assessments or intervention outside of our Soul Shack program. |
